Just to update you on Hatfield Swimming Club’s recent achievements and results – from the British Long-Course Championships (which doubled as this year’s Olympic Trials) and the World Short-Course Championships ……..

British Long Course Championships

Richard Charlesworth swam inside the Fina ‘A’ time in the Mens 1500m freestyle heats, one of only 2 swimmers to do so. Then in the final  after a neck and neck race won in a time of 15:10.99 for the one place available in that event for the Beijing Olympics. He is now selected to swim this event along with David Davies at the olympic games this summer.

Adam Brown narrowly missed the Fina ‘A’ time in the heats of the Mens 100m freestyle (only 1 swimmer Ross Davenport achieved this)  Then he came 2nd in the final in a time of 49.64 beating Ross Davenport into 4th place but as the fina ‘A’ time was not achieved in the heats was not selected for this event..

Then on the 14th April the BOA have announced that 2 more swimmers will go to Beijing for the Mens 4x100m Freestyle relay, Adam Brown and Simon Burnett.

This is the first time Hatfield have had 2 swimmers go the Olympic games. Our last swimmer was Michael Fibbens in 1996 in Altlanta and this was also in the Mens 4x100m Freestyle relay where the GB team came 8th in the fFnal.

WELL DONE AND CONGRATULATIONS TO RICHARD AND ADAM BOTH ON THEIR WAY TO
